The answer is "it depends".

Concensus though is that turbo will give you ultimately more power.

turbo

until they make an aftercooler/intercooler for a SC for the lude you cant run more than 9psi on a supercharger without having high air intake temps
hot air intake temps=higher chance of detonation
detonation=toasted motor
toasted motor=you lose

yeah if you ask me if you MOM is pretty i would say she looks "different"
the reason i said "DIFFERENT" was becuz i didn't want to hurt her feeling for being ugly. So, there the word "different," it doesn't have a real meaning, it been use as an EXCUSE, NOT SURE. It doesn't the pure meaning, the true meaning toward something...

and there you go "it depends"

to answer ur question "what's better, 1900 lb 200hp car or 2800 lb 500 hp car?????

yes it is stupid and you know why? cuz you're asking me a quesiton that making me guessing and that is so vague, not specific...better in what? condition? power? traction? handle? classification of the car? what? what? why dont you take a drive and dyno it...or tell me which car have what

turbo vs supercharge, turbo is better because i know about...i dont guess...i know the conidtion, i know its power, i know how it works, i know its nature....therefore i know its potential so therefore again it not depends

and therefore over again it's BETTER THAN SUPERCHARGER u freak

the point is he should have searched before asking this question - it only gets asked about once a week or so and before it got redundant - people gave knowledgeable info out about it.

and it does "depend", if it didn't, why would anyone have a supercharger if turbo was clearly the better choice (which of course i think it is)

but the only reason we say it depends is because he (the author of this post) didn't give enough info for anyone to really give him any help - if he mentioned his goals - like how much hp he wants to get, if he plans on building his internals, if he has a lot or a little bit of money to spend - there's too many things that we don't know about the author or his car to give him any reasonable feedback - so then the answers he gets is "it depends" because it depends on him and his car...

Because "I know..." good answer. (sarcasm)

No mention of parasitic drag, spool up time, whether we are talking about Centrifugal or roots type S/C's...

Yes, it depends. A JRSC would be more satisfying on a daily driver than a big long spool up time high boost turbo just for the ability to have immediate reaction to right foot input, but the turbo is going to beat it on peak h/p production in virtually every circumstance.

you make no salient point here. your "difference" paragraph has no bearing on the conversation at hand. your other paragraph makes some really idiotic assumptions about what he is using this "Turbo vs. supercharger" thing for.

just because you have no idea when a SC might be "better" than a turbo doesn't mean that there aren't instances when a SC is better than a turbo. SC setups are cheaper and tend to be more reliable, rather, they have more modest builds and ambitions (not looking for 500 whp with a JRSC). They also don't have a problem with turbo lag, which for some people, is a major problem. Also, if i'm going to put a 9psi pulley on a JRSC vs. running some shitty DSM DIY conversion on a manifold made out of duct tape, then it seems like the SC is better.

do you understand what i'm saying? "Better" is always defined by whatever rules you're using to describe it. So in your bench racing world of imaginary dyno graphs and vicariously living through some guy who got 600 whp out of his b16, yes, you are right turbo is better. But this poster never specified what his definiton of better was, so the question is deemed vague, pointless, and the answer is:

it depends.
