Benefit to this type of turbo intake?

They have been doing that since the early 90's with twin turbo RB26DETT. The conversion to speed density was expensive so the dual MAF sensor adaptor has to be utilized on single turbo upgrades that do not use a speed density computer.

I never thought of it that way, but it makes sense. I always though it was just for looks or something, but that would make sense if it originally had two MAF sensors and they didn't want to convert it to one.
