b series mount kits.... battle for ground clearance?
Out of all the sets of b series mount kits, i noticed the majority of them "place the engine down in the engine bay for hood clearance"
well, i could give a **** less about hood clearance, which mount kit provides the most ground clearance?
I have used HCP mounts (tilted the engine so far foward that my header had to be heated and bent downwards to connect to the exhaust) and some generic ones off ebay which actually seem a lot stiffer than the HCPs, but still, ground clerance isnt what i want.
Like i said, i could care less if i have to remove the webbing from the hood or even get a different hood, i just want the most ground clearance..
Pics anyone? opinions?

I dont have a picture of the ground clearance on my car, but I know its pretty good. My hood rubs slightly, even after trimming webbing out, so that alone would lead me to believe its positioned for some pretty good ground clearance.
My setup:
AZRace & Machine billet mounts
95 USDM B18C1
USDM crx hood
I'm very happy with these mounts $282 shipped for billet mounts w/ a lifetime warranty. Very stiff mounts, but vibration is still kept to a minimum.
I'll see if I can bum a digital cam off someone to take some pictures.

i have done my reasearch and called both companies and asked how many defective mounts the have recieved in a 1year period and hasport has had alot more than az mounts and i asked how the engine sits in the bay and az had better angles!

I have the AZRace mounts and I love them, but that logic doesnt really work. Hasport has a much bigger name than AZRace. They probably sell a LOT more mount kits than AZRace so its obvious that they're gonna get more kits back for repairs/replacement.
Now, if you figured out percentages of mounts sold to mounts returned, then that would be better proof.

exactly. and, do you really think that hasport would give you the number of malfunctioned mounts? and how can you say the angles are better when the AZ mounts are modeled after the hasports? not to be an ***, just wondering where you're getting your "info."

yeah, hasport might have more defective mounts than a never-heard-of-them company. but then ask how many units the AZ company shipped.
like a power to weight ratio, you should figure out what the ratio is for defects:shipped.

seriously, do u think that any of these comanies actually "design" them any differently than any of the others?
they probably slap in a set of hasports or HCP's and then make theirs to place the motor in the same spots.. why would any company sell a set of mounts that required u cut your hood for the most popular swap- a b16. BTW i know alot of people offer the warranty, but i personally have had to call hasport about getting 2 of my mounts fixed and they were absolutly the easiest company ever to deal with concerning warranty repairs
if i were looking for maximum ground clearence i think i would raise my car back up to stock height
ur best bet might be rewelding the stock mount locations up that way u can get it to a factory positsion-which would probably give you the most ground clearnce

What about a JDM conversion? The Si-R hood has a better hood clearance, cause the JDM/EDM CRX is OEM B16 equipped. So you can use the OEM engine mounts of a EF8/9 (or EDM EE8/9).

Here in the USA we cant use the OEM mounts without some type of modification to the frame mounting point(s) in the car. It takes some cutting and welding. Its just easier to buy a conversion kit with all new custom made mounts. This is why we have sooo many companies offering mount kit conversions.
