Default Head Unit too damn bright

I have a panasonic head unit with the "day and night glow" and at night its crazy bright... anyone know any way to turn it down or something of the sort. Sometimes i drive around with the face down so the light is off.

On my JVC Aresonal I can have it so it is always dim always bright or so it dims when I turn my headlights on. I don't know about yours but mine has those choices. I Don't have a Panasonic though so I don't know about those.

There should have been an orange wire or orange/white on the radio harness.. Just hook that up to the dimmer wire in the car, and you can control the brightness with the car dimmer... It should actually automatically dim when you turn the car lights on...

You should check to see if your HU has a dimmer function. Maybe it's not properly wired up. My Alpine has a dimmer which i wired to the OEM harness, so when you turn the headlights on, the HU automatically dims ala OEM.

no it doesn't dim at all when i turn the headlights on, there was an extra wire for the dimmer but no wire to connect it to, john666 pm'd me and explained how to wire it to the fuse box... i thought about tinting it but then it'd be weird during the day

Yeah you need to connect that dimmer wire. I just connected mine to a light that happened to be near by on my DA, it doesn't need much current as it is just a small relay within the head unit.

Dimmer wire and Illumination wire are not the same thing.
New radios use Illumination connection, not the dimmer one.

I'm 99% sure the cheaper Panasonics can not be dimmed. The one I have in my Jeep however has a button under the volume **** that says DIM and I can push that and get it dark enough to not **** me off at night.
