I have a 1990 Prelude Si, the 2.1 liter, and it has about 160K on it. It has been getting 19 miles to a quarter tank of gas The engine light turns on when it gets warmed up, it is reading out the the MAP sensor is bad and that the crankshaft position sensor is bad. I talked to one guy who said that he has nevewr seen that happen to a car before.. I need any and all suggestions on what could be wrong, it goes to a shop on Tuesday, but if anyone has some imput I would greatrly appreciate it...

 

Please elaborate. What exactly has he never seen happen before?

 

sounds liek the map sensor and crankshaf tposition sensors are bad then, im betting the crank position sensor is in teh distribtuor and the map may just be bad or there may be damaged wirring

 

He said that he has never seen a Map sensor and a crankshaft position sensor go out at the same time...

 

While it's not common for both to go out at the same time, it's not unheard of.
Did you reset the ECU, and check to see if they come back?

 

Yeah, I've tried just about everything I can think of... It went into a shop this morning called the 5th Gear, I don't know much about them but hopefully they can fix it for me.

 

Wouldnt the car not run if the crank possition sensor is broken?

You should have brought your car to TC Performance. Tobi does a great job, I bought my 91 Prelude from him.
