Project Update: Stage 1
Here is the engine as I got it. The timing belt broke, and dealer said there were bent valves.

After taking off the valve cover I saw small drops of antifreeze in the oil. THe engine needed a head gasket, and maybe more.

Cylinder head shortly after pulling it from the block. NO BENT VALVES!!!

Carbon build-up on the combustion chambers

Cylinders shortly after pulling the head off. PISTONS LQQK GOOD!!

Cylinder wall

Cylinder head after I use oven cleaner to strip off oil and carbon. A toilet
brush is good to scrub with. I plan on painting the head flat black.

Clean values and chamber

Use the gasket as a templete to widen the exhaust ports

Piston after cleaning

Freashly painted intake manifold and components

Freashly painted valve cover

Gaskets are in, the block brace and turbo system should be in next week.

HOLY CRAP!! DEFINATELY NOT 56k friendly. I'm on the schools t1 or somechit system and its still taking days to dl the pics! Please RESIZE!!!!
The car was a coworkers that I got for $1000
He paid $230.00 to have the dealer installed a new timing belt. They said 35% compression in the #1 cylinder.
The cylinder head and pistons look fine. The low compression was from the head gasket

Thanks.
While I wait for the parts, I am going to remove the valves, clean the stems, and lap them to the seats. That is when I am going to blend the bowls on the exhuast side.
