My GSR is gettin an LSD
Alright, heres the deal. I've got a 95 GSR, next on my list is an lsd. the other day i purchased a CTR lsd, from what i've read and whatnot, it WILL fit. I just wanted to double check, and maybe someone could make a list of what OEM lsds will fit a 95 gsr (USDM) tranny. and no, i dont need a lsd thats better than stock, this will be an all motor car, that will reach a max of 215-115whp.

Yes it will fit assuming you're going to re-use the stock final drive. If the bearings on it are tapered (assuming it came with bearings) you will need to preload the lsd when it is installed. Switch over to the enclosed bearings from b16/itr differentials and all you will have to do afterwards is shim it and be done.
buy a helms.
[you have to apply a certain amount of torque (26 ft/lbs, i think) to the drive shaft input socket (brainfart) on the lsd when tightening the tranny case.] -this is incorrect. you used the socket to check the preload on the diff after the tranny is assembled.
this is ONLY if you have tapered bearings... as to why, at this point in the day my brain is tired of thinking, so i really couldn't tell you.
edit: the why of it is to be sure the tapered roller bearings are seated properly. my advice would be to get sealed bearings and throw the tapered bearings away.
but a helms makes any tranny modifications easier (any car mods, really) so buy one before you do the install so you have an idea of what yer going to need.

they're 65-70 bucks, and worth much more than that in time saved.
enjoy.

Drive shaft input socket? I've heard of preload but I didn't need to do it. I had an OBD2 tranny with tapered bearings and the JDM LSD I got also had the tapered bearings already on it. The preloading is just to be able to get the tapered bearings on, I think.
I just swapped the final drive ring and in it went without any issues.
I was lazy about masuring the spacing too
