Wont Go Over 110
Dear all
Recently Ive had a problem with my Euro ITR. The car will not go over 110 mph. It accelerates fine from idle to 6k rpm in 5th, but when VTEC kicks in at this point the engine note changes, but the car stops accelerating, keeping at 6krpm and 110. It will go along like this for approx. 20 seconds, but then it drops out of VTEC and continues this cycle over and over. The only way to get above 110 is to hit the limiter in 4th and powershift into 5th. There is a noticeable flat spot in 4th from 6k rpm to 7k rpm, where it seems to have little power, but above 7k rpm all is fine. A few months ago I had the disbributor rotor arm screw come loose, causing the rotor arm to contact the distributor cap, causing both to fail. I replaced the rotor arm and cap, but I dont have a timing light, so I didnt check the timing, could this be the cause, or is it more serious. This was the first time ive gone over 100 since before the screw came loose, as Ive had a recent encounter with the police and dont want a repeat. The Honda dealer was as helpless as ever, saying to check the fluids and if they were fine it would need a several hour checkover. Does anyone know what this could be, if so please reply, also does anyone know a relliable mechanic experienced with b series engines aroung London in the UK if work is needed.
Many Thanks for any replies
John

I was wondering the same thing, although 110 is still a good bit under the 118mph speed limiter on the JDM ecu's.
John: Maybe I missed the details, but what mods (if any) are done to the car?
And is the CEL on?

No, theres no limiter, when I first got it I would regularly top speed it and it would comfortably do 150+ on the speedo. The only mod on it is a blitz SUS air filter kit, but this has been on for over 2yrs.
