hey i just installed a AEM CAI and there are 2 left over little black lines that was plugged into my stock intake. what do i do with these? are they vacuum hose or something? right now they are just dangling and i'm still driving the car. is there something i should do with those? o_O

One goes to the crankcase ventiliation. Which, like 1quickLS said, goes to the valve cover. The other should go to the FIRST dashpot on the IM.

 

91 teg right, those 2 little vaccum hoses? just get a T connector and plug it into the one small inlet on the intake, i had to do that with our 91 4dr. 90-91 tegs have 2 small vaccum hoses and 1 valcover hose, 92-93 tegs have 1 small vaccum hose and 1 valve cover hose. hth.

 

i'm not sure what you mean. i plugged one of the hose (a bigger one that perfectly fit the AEM CAI inlet) into the CAI. But now i'm just left with the 2 vacuum hose. if i get a T connector i wouldn't be able to plug it into the CAI because i already plugged in the other one into it. ah im so lost =/

 

well..if you plug the t connector directly into the CAI then you can plug 2 things into it..

 

this is a really crappy chop but you'll get the idea.

 

my intake doesn't have the place where the T valve plugs into. i think i have an older model intake.

 

Mine only has the main crank case breather tube, and the other two are plugged. I guess if you have an auto teg thats when those are used, but manuals dont use them, So the aem book says

will i lose performance if it is left unplugged? what exactly do the two extra tubes do anyways?

newer.....not older.
they got rid of that garbage in 94. i got rid of that **** in 04. you can take both vacum lines off completely then undo the 2 screws from the throttle body and pull the 1 off completely. turn it sideways and it comes right off the throttle wheel. the 2nd one(on the nitake mani) you can just disconnect but cant remove. neither do a damn thing.

 

i have a pic of my 91 (auto )teg with an injen intake on.. i'll post up the pic.. hold on

 

here you go man, i have my finger pointing to the "T" fitting where the two black lines connect, then the other side connects to the intake.

if you dont have that second nipple on the intake tube, you can either drill and put you a fitting in there.. or you can cut a small hole in the big tube to the valve cover breather and stick the "T" fitting in there..

 

thanks for the pics =D im still wondering what are the purpose of those tubes. and where can i get the T connector. is that what i would ask for? is there a certain size i should get? =/ i went to kragens today and i spoke to some guy who didn't seem to know what he was talkin about. haha on the side note my buddy overheard their coverstations about "which is faster? nos or turbo" and someone said turbo of course. these guys scare me. he told me to just cover up the two vacuum holes. however, i did not believe him and thank god i didn't. later when i was home i put my finger on one of the holes and i think my engine got weaker. either my idle dropped or i wasnt getting enough fuel. i'm not really sure what. but i really wanna find out the purpose of those and do i really have to drill a hole somewhere to put them. O_O what to do what to do *sighs*

 

there not really vacum hoses.. well kinda, but as you can tell, there used to bring in air to something, which is why they would come from the intake. just fine one of the hoses and take it in, buy the "T" fitting, and ur done..

and if ur intake doesnt have the nipple on it, just do one of the two steps i posted above. you should be fine.

but if those lines did nothing, they wouldnt be there in the first place. u know? better to be save than sorry

DAmn i had the same problem too gbut on a accord...

 

where the holes open, i covered one with my finger and the idle seemed to drop or something weird happened to the engine. also if i put the two holes together, open end to open end, then the engine starts reving by itself...haha funking stuff.

now you're just acting dumb n00b.. we gave you solutions and you still post "problems".. get off ur lazy *** and go get ur parts, and get it fixed.. simple

either listen to my solutions and go buy the parts. or go get another intake with the "correct" fittings on.. and call it a day, in ur case, a week..

this is what i tried to explain but you guys didn't seem to listen. anyways thanks for the solutions and i DID try to go look for that parts. thanks for being "HELPFUL"
