So if everything is stock, and you dont have a turbo or a supercharger. How are you planning on "raising" your boost?

u dont need 116 octane to turn your boost up to 9 or 10 psi. you need a good ems and a good tuner. i run 9 psi on stock block all day long. (with hondata and a good tune)

I just have an fmu right now. im not planning on leaving the boost at 9 or 10 but i wanted to try it out after someone mentioned it to me.
And sorry Boltz I forgot to mention that i have a garrett t3/t04 e turbo, i thought you would be able to put 1 and 1 together.

Theoretically you could run 30 psi with 116 and a small turbo like that with proper fuel management (An FMU sure as hell is not proper management). As long as you didn't detonate, even a little, you'd be OK, you would just speed up the deterioration of your motor (probably 100 fold)

A good friend of mine ran over 20 psi. repeatedly this summer using 116 on a completely stock LS motor (read: original headgasket, head has never been removed) and ran 12.2's without even a hint of trouble (minus several broken axles). After we ran compression and leak down test, we found everything to be in top notch shape. This car was tuned to 250 hp by Cortney Green on pump gas, so it goes to show you, that it's all about precise tuning.

Oh and just for the record I street tuned the map up to 20 PSI, & my a/f is 11.2:1 and i'm at 17deg adv. @ 20psi and cold plugs, results less than 10 % leakage, and 180 psi compression give or take 5 psi all the way across.

Slight thread jack: what turbo was on the car? did you guys get dyno numbers for 20 psi of boost? sounds like a fun car!

A small t3/t4 54 trim .63 a/r, not a lot of air volume. Its a fun car because no one believes its a completely stock motor, all I have beside the turbo & good tuning is a ACT clutch, Slicks, & and an exhaust. other than that stock everything.

So yes and no.... you can run more boost with proper tuning and what not... but no you can't just turn it up..

Well you can, but you'll be pick up pieces of your motor off the ground, besides, turning up your boost without proper tuning and enough fuel won't make much or anymore power. I think this is done now, I'll shut up.

Im not sure how farmiliar you are with the FMU but what it does is as follows

lets say you have 38 psi of fuel pressure at idle

with a stock 1:1 regulator and 10 pounds of boost you would be at 48 psi of fuel pressure which is ok.

Now compare that to an FMU, which is a 12:1 regulator. 38 base fuel pressure + (10psi x 12) = 158 psi of fuel pressure, which is unreliable. This could overheat your injectors and lead them to fail.

You could probably do it a couple times and get away with it, but I think the major issues you'll run into is 1, way too much fuel pressure 2, way too rich because of the extra pressre in the rail.

If you got hondata and tuned it properly, you could boost 10 pounds a lot safer than you ever could with an FMU

180psi .. seems a tad low for a STOCK B16, don't you think? As long as they are very close to each other then
