How do you know if you broke ring lands

Default How do you know if you broke ring lands

My car is smoking adn I am trying to tell if it is my return line or if i hurt the motor. Compression is within 10 all the way accross

sounds like the problems lie somewhere else. i would agree that it sounds more like turbo seals! Inspect these before you look to the motor for answers

Do a leakdown test. My compression was within 10psi in all 4 cylinders. Yet all 4 pistons had some type of ringland damage.

ringland damage will show oily smoke coving from the valvecover breather.............alot

No oily smoke but with the cap off it does sound like it is pressurized. Is that normal? The turbo is new but i used an ssautochrome manifold and it make the return line long and flat in a spot so i think that might be my prob.
