is timing retard necessary for 7 lbs on stock b18c?
hi. just a question that i'm sure all you turbo pros already know, but is it necessary to retard my timing for just 7lbs on my stock b18c? I dont have an msd ignition system or anything like that. i've heard that if its necessary, the distributor can be moved a few degrees, but i dont know which way to move it, or how much. the turbo kit isnt installed yet, but i need all the info i can get to make my install a successful one. the kit i have is pretty much a budget builders kit. airesearch t3, 35 mm wg, 31x6x2.75" fmic, 2.5"dp, bov, 255l walbro, 12:1 fmu. not a lot of name brand stuff, just a little something to get me boostin. right now my timing is advanced slightly. the guy that did the motor swap said the timing advancement would help for just basic bolt ons. once again, anything to do with timing is not my speacialty, and i understand that its a Very important part of engine performance, so i would like to learn more about it. thanks for your time guyz. just trying to get another "psssst" honda on the road.
I'd bring your timing back to stock or retard it 2 degrees. Timing advance with any amount of boost is not a good idea.
how do i know when its back to stock? and from there, how much more is 2 degrees? does it have to be extremely accurate?

get a timing gun. Set your timing to 16 for stock timing or if you want to retard it a little do maybe 14 or 15. Moving the dizzy towards the firewall advances it and away retards it.
