Default Help with Ground control / Bilstien install....

Parts Bilstien Sport ITR shocks and Gound Control's (2.5x8x400-F & 2.5x7x500-R)

I am putting all of this stuff together and I have a question about the dust covers. The Ground Control install sheet says to cut off the dust cover and only leave 1.5 inches on the shock. It would hit the sleaves otherwise. However this leaves no protection to keep dirt and stuff off of the shock shaft. Is there another way to do this to get some protection from the elements to the shock shaft.

Anyone here have a similar setup?

I wouldn't worry about it too much. My tokico/GC set up had the same info. The shafts have wipers/seals on them. It will keep the dirt/dust out of the body. I recently called Bilstein tech about my truck shocks. They indicated that I could use or remove the boots without any warranty or wear concerns for that application.

I think that you will still want to use the 1.5". It helps to locate the top of the spring into the cup when it goes full droop.

Can someone explain to me why on front (2.5x8x400) longer springs then rear (2.5x7x500) ?
