what is a chipped ecu?

Default what is a chipped ecu?

im so sorry man....call me noob as if you wish

all i know is bolt on stuffs...nothing to do with ecu...when i was reading some posted thread,,,people were talking about chipped ecu with vafc (vtec something fueling control?) or vtec controller (what i know), wat have no idea wtf is chipped ecu

but wat is chipped ecu? wat does it do? is it pricey? worthy to get? i got i/h/e completed what should i get next?

oh yeah forgot to tell you guys,,,i am running a 97 GSR....i heard about p28 or hondata s200 or s100..one of them i can't use because my model is 97 gsr is that true

First of all, hahahhahahhahaha for that question. YOu are lucky no one has gotten on your case. With that said.

I chipped ECU is when someone works on the stock honda ECU and replaces the stock chip with a chip that has another program (skunk, mugen, custom, etc). some of them give you more gas, more timming, etc and make your engine produce a little more HP. This is just the simple explanation.

Should you get one? SUre, its another bolt on. Try Erick Racing, he will tell you what to do and how or whats best for your needs.

well nothing bad to be a noob i guess....i just wanna know more and more by asking question....no point of being a noob and not asking question...then that will be all time noob lol...
yeah i know chipped ECU someone is chipped ECU but chipped with what is what i need to know and there you answered (skunk2, mugen, custom...etc for more timing, gas...etc...)thanx for trying...nothing embrassing for me..as long as i know somethign more...

btw...you got any suggestion for ECU upgrading for my 97 gsr...? hondata...mugen? how much are those going for anyway....

not much for just bolt ons..you wont gain much on a bolt on GSR.

If you want to run a chipped ECU, you will have to buy a conversion harness (obd2-obd1) then buy yourself an OBD1 ECU which can then be chipped and re-tuned for your motor. Depending on the program you can get decent gains even on a stock motor.

why? how come it turns out so much hassle and pricey? is it because my motor is 97?

that's not a hassle or pricy.

and yes, you have an obd2a ecu...and until flashable chipping becomes readily availble..you're stuck converting to obd1

and when is the flashable chipping becomes readily avaliable? not yet for a while
