g3 Integra have trouble starting
1995 Integra
B18B
The car starts only when it wants to turning the key. Like I could get in, turn the key and it could start.
5 minutes later i can go in turn the key - nothing, turn the key - nothing, turn the key - nothing, turn the key - nothing, turn the key - nothing, turn the key - nothing, turn the key - starts.
I hear the Fuel Pump Prime
I hear a click under the hood when it doesnt start
I have had many starters in this car and the one that is in there now was a Remanufacturer replacement i just got about 3 weeks ago. I put the new starter in from this same problem in hopes of resolving it.
It use to seem that it would only do it when it was hot outside, but now it does it despite the air temperature.
The Power Cable to the Starter VISUALLY looks good but has not been swapped
the battery ran low once and i filled it back up with water and charged it up ... battery acid accumulates under the positive terminal. I whipe it clean it will return eventually... not a crucial amount .. but it does come back.
As far as the starter circuit .. I do have a Ignition Kill relay for my viper 300... that relay has not been tested or swapped
Everything else should be stock
Oh also, the internal lights/electronics do not seem to dim or suffer any power loss symtoms when it fails to start
any suggestions would be greatly appreciated

Then put voltmeter probes directly on the battery posts, not on the clamps or wires. What does the voltage do when when someone turns the key but it doesn't start? What does the voltage do when it DOES crank?
The fact that the lights & stuff don't dim when it clicks probably means your battery is OK. Loose (+) cable at the starter end? Disconnect (-) cable before messing with the big (+) cable.

Check that relay... It's easy to swap.. It should be just a standard Bosch-type relay in there.. Might have to drop the dash to find it though, depending on how well the installer hid it...

if u know how to use a voltmeter measure the voltage dope on the starter remote wire when u crank.
if not do this
attach a wire to the remote wire on ur starter
u know the small wire on ur starter(the one that has a speaker plug termanal)
(make sure ur car is in neutral when u do this!)when ur car won t crank tap that wire to the battery positive termanal it will crank ur engine "if not ur starter is shot again"
if u leave the key in run position ur car will start when cranking
