spare tire hole

spare tire hole
1992 Honda civic HB DX
if I take a piece of sheet metal and weld it over the spare tire hole and then cut off the bulge on the bottom and then use like a tire wench off say an Chevy truck and bolt it to the bottom of the sheet metal so I can still use my spare tire when I get my fiberglass sub box
So my question is if I cut out the spare tire hole if it will screw up the structural integrity of the car
