Default how much would new shifter bushings help (sorry its kinda long, but i desperatly need help)

what all is included in this process. i got a used 98 y8 tranny for next to nothing, and was told it had a slight 3rd gear grind at 6500 rpm and above and turned out it was at about any rpm in third. i put in the gm synchromesh and it was getting better. so saturday night i went to the track. first pass i couldnt find third until after the rpms dropped. 16.4. second pass i hit all the gears and got off the line kind of shitty, 15.44. third pass got through 1 and 2 good, went to third and nothing but grinding, so i let the r's drop and it went in, turned out it was first. fourth pass had an excellent reaction and 60ft of a 2.1 on 195\60\14. so i babied it through third and managed a 15.5. sometimes it gets stuck in second at might pop out of first. and the shifter sits in a slightly different place compared to before the third pass. so would this be a linkage problem like with worn shifter bushings or is it in the tranny. i have a 92 dx hatch with a jdm d15b vtec and a 98 y8 tranny with 55k on it. someone help me out here

New shifter bushings are only about $9 for Energy Suspension ones. http://www.suspension.com/civic.htm
