can someone explain the logic behind deceasing the FP for more hp?????
i have a question i was hoping someone could answer LOGICALLY!! i may not be the smartest of all poeple when it comes to tuning, but why do a lot of people decrease the fuel pressure??? for example, i had a turbo EG civic. after installing an inline fuel pump, i felt a noticeable difference in power. granted that is forced induction, but going all motor is pretty much the same. with different cams and head, increased compression, i/h/e, the car is going to flow more air, and to me, that means more fuel. so why is it that you decrease the FP to achieve more hp???? are these people running larger injectors, or is there something i am missing. any help would be nice. thanks

don't know if this satisfies your question, but running rich doesn't mean making the most power. The ITR and certain other Hondas run pretty rich from the factory at WOT, so leaning them out will actually make a bit more power as you get closer to the optimum air-fuel ratio. This applies to most bolt-on mods IMO, if you get into bigger cams, wild head work, etc.., then you may find that leaving the fp at stock levels or actually increasing it may produce more power. This is a very general answer as engines will respond differently. Best thing is to dyno tune your fuel settings for max power and don't worry if the fuel is lowered or increased.

This simple answer is this. Power comes from the mixture of air, fuel, and a spark. If you add more air and fuel, in the right mixture, you make more power. If you add too much air without more fuel, you won't make more power, and you'll cause damage. If you add too much fuel without more air, you won't make more power and you'll cause damage. Factory cars are tuned rich (a little too much fuel) because it burns cleaner, cooler, and safer and will run on crappy gas. If you lean out a factory tuned car, 9 times out of 10 you'll make some more power.
