Default Anyone EVER had any problems using CTR pistons on B-Series rods that have to be slightly shaved to f

the pistons to fit???

I am doing this post for a guy named Jon Chan, who sent me an e-mail asking about this with no return address.......I have not had a problem, nor have I heard of anyone having a problem shaving the small end of their connecting rods on various B-series motors (B18A/B/C) to fit CTR pistons.......My motor (B17A) has seen 9500 rpm countless times and never had any problem........I wish I could say the same for the oil pump.....So make sure you get a NEW one when you rebuild, BUT never a problem with the rods........A GOOD balance job on the rotating assembly is also recommended! ALSO, for my own personal knowledge HAS anybody gone from CTRs to an aftermarket forged piston and used the same rods (that were modded for the CTRs) had any problems, such as too much play on the small end, etc..............???

i choose to cut the piston instead of the rod but you can do it either way and not have any problem....

Exactly what I did as well. I felt better about shaving the piston instead of the rod.
