Default Anyone using ctr pistons with eagle rods?????

I just brought my ctr pistons and eagle rods to the machine shop and the machinest said that the rod and pistons cant be used together.
He said that the wrist pin wouldnt clip on the rods properly and the wrist pin would be flying around and smaking aginst the cylinder walls.
Anyone using these pistons and rods combo and if so how did you get the rods to stay on the pistons with the wrist pins not have a clip in them?

I was told that this would be the only way to have those pistons on without having to get a new crankshaft, i dontknowwhy he would say somethin like that

You wont be able to fit ITR/CTR rods onto your crankshaft, if you want to have them fit, you will have to get a whole new crankshaft.....=more$$$

The eagle rod design is not a floating wrist pin setup. You will need the C-clip retainers to lock the wrist pin into place. Call Eagle up they'll sell you some for dirty cheap. Buy some extra ones just incase you bend them.

You have to have grooves machined onto the CTR piston to hold the pin in place and you will need JE/SRP retaining clips to use when you machine a groove onto the piston hole for the clips. We have done this and yes it is 100% duable.

can anyone show me a picture of it. i am in the process of rebuilding my block and i was going to get a set of eagle rods and ctr pistons. i just thought that you need to machine the rod so that if would slide in, now learning that you need to machine groves on the pistons it is making me think twice.
so is it okay if i ran it with stock rods instead.

If your going to run stock rods make sure to use ARP rod bolts

thats what im doin

but ya man, oem pistons are all press fit in, aftermarket are generally push pins... so either buy some arp rod bolts with ls rods or just go get yourself some JE or CP pistons. i had the same problem about 2 months ago. gl dogg. depending on your application, unless its gonna get nuts, just go ls rods with arps. PM me if u need more info. gl

Honestly for the price of machining the grooves into the CTR pistons, you might as well buy a set of SRP pistons(cheaper then JE, yet better then the cast CTRs).
