question about sleeves...searched
I'm looking to get my h22a1 block sleeved and i was wondering if anyone could tell me the diffrence in replacement sleeves, and repair sleeves. And also what i need to do to get the precess going.
depends where you go.. some places just replace them with a oem like sleeve
others offer an aftemarket, stronger sleeve that allow you to run forged pistons. as well as the sleeve is ductile iron

replacement or repair sleeves are strictly what they say they are, whoich is for repairing damaged sleeves or repalcing sleeves that are worn out of spec, they are as thin and light as needed to get the stock cyiner back into spec. if you want to boost get perofrmance sleeves that are designed for boost....
There is a huge difference between replacement sleeves and performance sleeves. Replacement sleeves are usually only about .090" thick ( about 22 pieces of paper ) where as performance sleeves are about 3/8" thick ( about the thickness of your finger ) The replacement lines were designed for stock situation use where no additional power was to be made. Performance sleeves were designed to withstand major amount of boost and can have the same reliability as stock sleeves. Our "HD" sleeves also take cooling into consideration, implementing a heat sink type design for better heat dissipation and overall more consistent cylinder bore and ring seal. Hope this adds some insight!

Well, it all depends on what you want to to. If you have a motor sleeves to the stock bore, then it will retain the stock displacement. If you increase the bore size, then you can add more displacement. Sleeving just adds strength to your block, and the ability to overbore to gain more H.P.

basically what they are saying is if you are gonna boost it especially in the h22 case sleeve it with performance sleeves. ie darton, aebs benson golden eagle etc...
btw i use darton mid sleeves

hmm.... i'm supercharged with darton sleeve liners (stage 1?). 6psi, I was on a VERY tight budget (both money and time-wise). Nothing seems out of the ordinary yet, but keep in mind I am only 2500mi into it. Whats the worst that could happen with sleeve liners? I'm just curious, and so I know what to expect when/if it all hits the fan in the future.....

Chopped liver? But I have heard good things about RLZ, Darton, GE, Benson, AEBS as well as others. Just stay away from "Badger" sleeves at least when it comes to Boost and 90mm bore.
