Default crazy ****...

i was driving down this road by my house that i normally dont travel on...actually no one travels on it... but i was doing about 45 and i saw a left turn comming up...so i decided to test out my handling and take it at that speed... i took it and accelerated into while turning (mistake!!!) and tried to counter-steer as the back slid out and around...next thing i knew i was facing the other way headed back the way i came.. i thought my handling would be better...any ideas how to make stuff like that not happen... other than just turning slower?

I've always driven rwd cars and know how to handle them fairly well and I get scared when I get on the throttle of my CRX especially while turning. The car is really light, has poor weight distribution, and of course is fwd. It's going to take me a while to get used to it.

Give a little brake while you gas it, it will transfer more weight to the front allowing for more grip on the road.

what do you have for suspension reinforcement??? what degree was the turn?

i have taken many many turns on back roads that suggest 25-30 MPH...at 80+
but i do have front and read upper strut braces......lower tie bar..stiff crx springs....B16A over the front wheels..
205 40 R16 W rated tires....

**** i think about it...i am glad i dont do that **** anymore...that **** is DANGEROUS!!!!

I'm just going to go ahead and say it. Dont do that **** on the streets you could kill someone....i mean I've seen lots of reports where people are doing stupid thing and they die or kill someone else. Go autocrossing if you want to test your car or some sorta road coarse that isnt a public road.

Anyways, You need to either get some grippier tires on the back. The Rear Passive Steering on CRX's make the car a lil' too nimble. When I first installed the GC/Koni on the back of my car and took a hard turn (It was in the middle of the night, made sure no one was around) and I almost spun out but I controlled it. I don't know what to say but try to mess around with the best settings for all 4 points of the car. Umm sum guy suggested pressing the brake then hitting the gas. Thats a good idea but I am unable to try that haha cause well don't wanna kill myself (or others at that). Hopefully sum of this mumbo jumbo makes sense.

i would just do what the other guys have already said. stiffen up the chassis by connecting the 2 sides together where you can. adjust your settings if you are able to maybe...

im not trying to sound like a bitchy mom or something but be careful. my uncle was near lake berryessa in CA; he saw a street bike crew all mobbing together, taking the turns skillfully on a windy road. one guy miscalculated a turn and wiped out on his bike. he bounced and flew all the way into a metal guard rail. his neck hit the edge of the guard rail, completely decapitating him. his helmeted skull bounced into the bushes.

i have three things to say.

1. be careful. don't hate. everyone does back road driving and hit turns over the limit. just be careful. close buddy of mine rolled his ef a little while back front bumper to back bumper to front bump and then back to all wheels. he was ejected from the car, escaping with road rash and a minor concusion.

2. sticky tires are gonna grip better, but is goign to be worse when u in that turn fast and then break loose. also : kumhos blwo. they are my:anti-grip:

3. remember. body roll is your friend. i learned that lesson after i made my car was to stiff, and it all went to my tires...and i just slid.
