Hit something on freeway-now have body roll on Pass side
I hit a Transmission on the freeway last week. The cars in front of me swerved, but I had a truck next to me and could not get over far enough. I hit the tranny and tore up both of my passenger side tires and messed up the alignment and possibly the suspension.
Well, I got 2 new tires and an alignment. Now, above 50, the accord handles like an SUV. It has major body roll - only on the passenger side, and I have to continually correct when ever I change lanes to the right or there is a curve. It feels like a jeep with the swaybars disconnected.
2 Honda dealers have checked it out, and have no idea. All of the alignment specs are correct, nothing appears to be damaged. They had it on a lift. The measurements were correct, nothing on the boots or any thing was damaged. They had multiple mechanics check it out, and they were all stumped...They are recommending replacing the suspension component by component until it goes away.
It's a 2001 Accord 4c Ex, all stock
Thanks!

You should take your car to a frame and alignment specialist. They can usually also repair/replace suspension parts and even brakes. Call them first. The dealer wants you to replace part by part. That's expensive and time consuming. If the dealer does this for you, you'll eventually git it fixed. Actually sounds like an interesting idea. But, who wants to pay the dealer their arm, leg and torso prices?
Do you have full coverage insurance? If so, I believe that you are covered. You need to go to your insurance agent first and foremost.
You hit a stray transmission on the freeway? How the heck did that get there? This could not have fallen out of someone's car, could it?
Was anyone else hit by debris? Might you have a suspect? If so, sue that person.
I once had a brand new Nissan which needed 6 realignments and 2 frame "straightenings." When the dealer realignments would not make the car drive straight, they sent my car to the frame and alignment shop. They tied my car down using chains and bent the frame back into alignment. Man, it was ugly. But, it finally worked.
My car was damaged by longshoremen during shipping from Japan.
These are my recommendations.
You probably feel like what happened to you sucks.
But, it sure would suck a lot more if you would have run into the tranny, and slammed into the truck on your side and have your passenger compartment sliced open like a can of sardines (with you being a sardine).
I think you actually came out in pretty good shape. Just take your car to the frame and alignment shop and let them do the work. You enjoy your day (and your life).
Out here in LA, one of the best alignment shop is called Bear Alignment. Bear = type of alignment equipment they use. All the guys there know their stuff. All the dealers send their problem situations to Bear.
In Vegas, the Bear Alignment is the primo alignment shop in the city of sin.
Do they have Bear Alignment where you are? Call them up and ask them how long they have been there. Go there and check out the cars in their shop. If you see BMers and Benz's along with some old foggy stoggies who swear by that shop and claim that only that place touches their 1960 Dodge Fury, I think it's safe to say that either this shop will be able to fix, or you no one will.
Good luck.
