Default RPMs Dropping

the rpms are dropping (like the power to the tack is cut off) and also the motor is cutting out when i am driving. Have checked d/cap,rot/butn,plugs,wires. Been told it is the distrubutor going bad.

sound like the dist. if you can borrow one from somebody that you know works weel that'll tell you. mine left me stranded outside of dallas on the way to houston after doing the same thing for about 60 miles. you should be smelling fuel also. if you let it go till it dies it'll probably kill you cat too because all that unburned fuel gets ignited in the cat and melts the catalyst.

It's the ignitor, wich is located inside the distributor. But for the long term I would just replace the whole distributor.
