Default busted timing belt

What would be the worst thing to happen to an engine that had the timing belt break? I know that the valves may be bent but would anything happen to the cylander walls, crank or rods?

It just happened to me like 3 weeks ago. Everyone says that if you have a SOCH engine is less probable to do any harm to any of the parts of the engine, but mine is DOCH and they say it's just dumb luck that I didn't harm anything inside the engine.

Anyways some part´s I know you could harm are:
Valves (of course)
Pistons
even the head if your engine was running at high RPM when it happened

Wish you luck with yours.

mine didn't break....i am trying to find a b18a/b for a lsvtec project. I found one for a good price but the timing belt is broken. I wouldn't be using the head from the b18 so i don't care if valves are bent. I won't even be using the pistons from the b18 so it doesn't even really matter if the pistons are scored or whatever. I am just trying to see if the rods, crank or cylander walls would be damaged b/c if there is a chance they can be damaged i will keep looking for another engine....if not then i might buy this one.

The only time you will see any piston, cylinder wall damages is usually when the vehicle is revving past 4500 rpms and vehicle is moving 40 mph or faster, the belt breaks, people dont know to push the clutch in, and shut it down to stop then engine rotation and the valves mack the piston over and over till they snap off and then everything is fubar from there! 90% of the time the head is good and no damage happens to the block at all as I have seen this at least 12 times on customers cars

If its an auto the chances of piston to valve contact and disruption is more likely!!

It really depends on what happens when it breaks you could get lucky and all the valves will miss the piston or you could get royally screwed and have the valve break off in the cylinder and mess up the piston and cyl walls.
