Default GSR--> JDM cluster Question **Searched** (gas guage)

ok so i just bought a JDM ITR cluster for my 2000 GSR. from waht ive heard its just plug and play. all i have to do its take mine out and plug in the JDM one correct? Also i was wondering if when i switch the cluster will the gas guage automatically go to where it was on my old cluster or do i have to fill up my tank and then move the needle on the JDM cluster fo it will be acurate? Thats all i want to know is if i put the JDM cluster in right now with about 3/8 tank of gas, will it go to the same point ont he JDm as on my GSR cluster now or do i have to move it??

And yes i tried searching!

what year is your jdm cluster? If its a 96 spec it will not be plug and play with your 00 gsr. You will need to swap the "green film"

Assuming you have a 98 spec cluster everything should work properly. Yes your gas needle will auto adjust to how much gas you currently have.

rev limit will be same as GSR or whatever specs you had it at before you swapped the cluster. the gauges are just for you to see. it does not change how your car function.

So if I get a JDM Type-R cluster, my car wont be JDM nor a TypeR? Will it still have 150,000 miles?

no......

the only thing the keeps track of the mileage is the speedo cluster, when you change it, it will be whatever the other is.... but just to let you know that is ILLEGAL.

and yes if you change to the JDM one it will read correctly in only KM not miles. from what I understand, the gauges use electrical pulses from you VSS and the internal mechanism (on the speedo gauge) is Calibrated to work in MI or KM will show the proper reading.

hence if you have a jdm one, when going 25MI, you will read 40km on the jdm one.

Redline on the gauge or on the car itself?

the redline will be there on the gauge, but what controls how high you can rev is the ECU not the gauge cluster.

BTW, no stock Type Rs are able to reach the 10K rev limit... the US stock ECUs were only programmed to rev to 8300 or something like that. You have to swap the ecu to a Hondata or chipped P72 or P28 in order to rev that high.
