What model car do you have? Because on the other civics it wouldnt always shift into reverse. Sometimes you had to put it in a different gear and then try reverse. I don't know if this is true on the newer cars too, but im guessing it could still be a problem.
Or are you implying no mater what you do you cant get it into reverse EVER?
more info would be helpful.

Hmmm. It couldnt be the synchros cause reverse doesnt have a synchro that way you dont accidently shift into it. And you cant get it to shift even if you trying shifting into first withe clutch still in and then into reverse?
right, once and a while it will go in ok, once yesterday, none today, I wonder if ther is a spring loaded gate at the shifter, know of anyone who has a blowup of shifter?

My car is a always a bitch to get in reverse. Try this.
put the trans in nuteral. Let the clutch out. put the clutch back in and try to put the trans in reverse. Be gental though because if you try to force it in reverse it will grind. In you apply gental presure it should pop right in. Well unless you tranny is totaly fucked. good luck.

if you read the service manual, honda actually reccommends that you shift your car into first and engage it for a sec, then shift into reverse. i dont know why this is so since ive never seen anyone do it, but thought id let ya know.
