On paper, I would agree with you, but I've heard the 500/1 on three 12w3v2's in a small sealed box, and they were far from underpowered, could they have possibly accepted more power, sure, but they sounded awesome!

the RMS on the W3's are 300watts, and max is 600. It'll work... but i would recommend getting a larger amp. It'll knock pretty damn hard in your car too since you have a hatch... and im assuimg you're putting them in an integra since thats your avatar and screen name

this man knows his stuff
but things are a little weird at times .. like lets say you have a 10w6v2 (400rms) ... if i was to put 200rms to it .. it would drop it about 3 disimals when if i put a 250rms to it .. it would only drop 2 disimals and still be still have plenty of power for the sub ..and dropping from lets say .. a 500/1 JL amp to a 250/1 JL amp on the 10w6v2 ... the only real difference on that will be maybe a little less volume but a cleaner sound, and also with that 250/1 less stress on your battery

i think 500/1 is fine for your 3 10w3's ...just experiment with a couple of different JL amps till your getting the sound your looking for ... PPI is awesome amp if you can find them (the company is dead now , they merged with orion ! )

is the jl 500/1 and a 12w6v2 http://www.onlinecarstereo.com...12514 a good combo since the 1 sub handles 400 watts? I heard that with this one sub it sounds like 2 or 3 fosgate, mtx, or cheaper subs.

honestly i would get some mb quart componets for the front put a 300/2 jl amp on them .... get the 500/1 .. or 250/1 jl amp and put that on the 12w6v2 .. you might need to upgrade to a better battery like an optima red top ...

I think it'll be more than sufficient. What do you think of the Q logic boxes? They are popular but then again so is thar NOS bottle subwoofer. Anyone?

3 W3's from 500W will be plenty loud. The extra radiating area will afford you plenty of system efficiency.

Also, fcm, you should know better - you can't just crank up gain for volume's sake....

custom box to fit your car and still have correct measurements for the sub is the best way to go

then its up to you whether you want sealed/ ported /bandpass(not recomended)
