98 V6 AEM intake fit 97 V6 ?
Car is a 97 accord with the V6. The layout of the intake looks very similar to the 98 style. AEM does not make an intake for the 97 V6's, so has anyone used a 98+ AEM intake for the 97 model? I am only interested in the AEM short ram's since i can get them at a great price and because it has a CARB number on it (the smog guys need to see a CARB number, and i dont think they're gonna know its for a 98+). Thanks in advance.

This is my thinking behind it. AEM likes to have their **** CARB ceritified for those of us who live in CA. It is an expensive process for the company to do this (which is why u see ebay intakes for 20$ and AEM for like $100, even though they look identical). The test has to be done on each car they make the intake for. They cant simply apply the exact same 98+ accord intake on the 97- because there are differences (such as VTEC etc.). So they would have to design and manufacture an entirely different intake for the pre 98 v6's. I assume AEM doesnt see it as worth their time and money to make an application for the pre 98 V6's due to their popularity.

Intakes are typically the same when it comes to purpose. BUT when you get into tube placement (vacuum lines etc) it probably won't line up NTM the bends of the actual intake tubing due to design/placement of the 6th gen engine in comparison to the 5th gen.
Are you wanting it just for a carb plate? Or the name?
If it is for the name just buy an ebay intake and get a k&n or aem filter and it will perform just as good as the said aem v2. Really nothing special but if you're concerned about 1-2 MORE whp then save your money and get another mod.
IMO name brand intakes are overated unless you need carb plates etc. Save your money

The purpose of course is exactly the same, DUH. Read my first post, im interested in the AEM because of the CARB label. Injen i believe also offers most/all of their intakes with CARB labels as well, but what do u know, no application for pre 98 V6's. Name brand intakes are VERY overated, theres no doubt about that. Sometimes they give u higher quality hardware and finish, but i dont think that justifies its higher cost. CARB is what shoots that cost 5X higher than ebay stuff. Im just hoping someone who has actually done this can chime in to let me know it all works out.

Have you personally seen both generation engine bays? I have, but not side by side. They look 90% the same to me. Let me know what differences u noticed.
