Default need help vtec press. valve code

i checked my friends 94 gsr today.....

it threw this code

-22 VTEC pressure valve

how do you go upon fixing this......

when he goes fast he says the check engine light goes on


need replies asap..

22 = VTEC oil pressure switch. The ECU won't engage VTEC unless it's happy with the oil pressure.

On my '95 GSR it's screwed into the VTEC spool valve, so it's sorta below where the plug wires curve around from the distributor. It looks kinda like the fan switch & the ECT sensor. I think it has a green plug??

Could be his oil is low? Maybe the wiring is loose or corroded on that sensor? Maybe the wiring is broken somewhere between the sensor & the ECU?

well asking about.....and 90% of vtec codes come from oil related probs, weather its dirty, sludged up, or low. also check the screen inbetween the valve and the head, that may be cloged. if that doesnt fix it, I will give you the specs of the switch, so you can test that

thanks for the help.....its fresh new oil 4 qts are there along with a rsx oil filter

ok...and I assume that the RSX filter is the same as all the other honda filters, and that they didnt change it

first off check continuity of theswitch, if there is none, replace it.
then off the connector, check contiuity beteween the black term and body ground

its most likely the switch, if that doesnt do it, ill type more, but there is alot of stuff to be checked
