Short shifter Q's
I notice that my Skunk2 shifter has ball bearings in it, unfortunately the guy before me apperently bought the wrong one and it sits on my exhaust. It seizes for a few seconds when I drive through water because it gets so hot. I want to buy a B&M and I notice that it doesn't have ball bearings. Any one know if this is bad? I keep seeing that people like the B&M shifter but I am reluctant. Any ideas?

I have the same type of problem with my Solo Short shifter everytime it rains. I think i have my problem because i had to remove the shield because it kept getting in the way of one of my gears.

Never had problems with my shifter seizing, it has sealed bearings in the bottom also, and the pipe has no heat shields, either.
I highly recommend you use a shifter w/ sealed bearings in the bottom. With the B&M you have to transfer the o-rings and junk from the stock shifter over to the B&M, which leaves some of the stock shifter's sloppy feeling left in the shifter, even with poly bushings. Also with sealed bearings and proper spacers, shifter movement will always be smooth, no matter how tight the bolt is.

You may have tightened the bolt too much. As I said, if you have a shifter w/ bearings and spacers, the shifter will still move the same no matter how tight the bolt is.

I have no problems with my skunk2 shifter. It use to hit the exhuast when I go to second, but during the hi flow cat install, the exhaust was hung down a little lower. Now it feels like stock with a shorter throw.
