I dunno, bud, I think the premise isn't quite spot on. You can get right up against 200 HP with a B18C5 with stock cams and just a Hondata and bolt ons.

Given the choice between a B motor and an H motor for modifications, you are going to find that there is a dearth of performance parts for the H motor when compared w/the B motors.

Leo at PasswordJDM had to devote some serious time to finding some H motor parts for us recently. It looked like nobody had them anywhere (not even in JDM land), and he just got on the phone every day until he found them.

Corey Jacobs says that he feels his H22A Prelude sometimes has an advantage on the track because he feels he has more torque close to his top speed than the B motors do, allowing him to do things at very high speed that the expensive B hybrids cannot do. I believe him, but so far this alleged advantage has yet to materialise into a positional advantage on the track.

Anyway...although the H motors definitely have their devotees, I really think you're going to be happier and be able to find your parts more easily if you stick with B motors.

BUT...you really can get up against 200 HP without doing anything too radical to your OEM B18C5!

K motors seem to have awfully long blocks, making it a problematic installation for the low-bonnet DC2, don't yoiu think?

I like the K motors a lot, but every DC2 install I've seen has the header and oil pan awfully close to ground level.

K motor = 200whp+ instead of right up against it

The DC2 and EG chassis actually have a little better ground clearance than the EK from what I here.

You want 200whp and for it to be a reliable daily driver right? I/H/E, Skunk2 stage 2's with gears and upgraded valvetrain. Hondata s200 for sure!! Tune till the cows come home. Might want to try uping the compression with like a head gasket or pistons. That should do it. Not that I've done it but I've read lots on this site. Sort of.

IMO, cams + compression = no longer daily-driver material. Yes, I know many folks do it and get away with it. I used to do it myself with B's and just a V-AFC for fuel.

But to me, daily reliable means just like stock. Gas and go. My car preferred a winter tune and summer tune. Not to mention warming up, cooling down, etc.

Stay 'all motor' for sure. If your car is a daily driver you're asking for trouble by getting a turbo.

That's true, I have dynoed at 196 whp with a ITR with only bolt ons and VAFC 2 tuning. Here's a link with details : https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=949676
