Default Dyno results inside

Ok i just got home from a quick dyno session and must say I'm quite pleased with the results. I just installed a Vafc-2 last week and wanted to get on the dyno as soon as possible to see what kind of power I'm making.

First here's my setup:

B18C6 with following mods:
Mugen Air cleaner box
Spoon Iridium plugs
Spoon spark cables
Sard fuel pressure regulator
ST Corsa cam gears
Removed power steering
Power Enterprise timing belt
Hytech header and cat-back
Apexi Vafc-2

Cam gears set to +2, +2
Timing 17 degrees
VTEC crossover @ 4500

Here's the plot:

Green is power and Blue is torque, thin green and blue lines are the first run before any tuning. So i went from 183,7 to 196 peak Hp This is on a Dynapack dyno btw.

As you can see I got some nice gains, especially in the midrange and a nice rush of extra top end power. A/F is still tuned on the safe side, with 13,9:1 beeing the highest it got. I'm sure some more fine tuning could be done but this is what we had time for today before I had to go to work. Car felt much better afterwards so money well spent as i see it.

Take a look at the torque curve scaling

Is this Flywheel HP?
>200 HP ECE corrected at flywheel is what you should get with a B18C6 with I/H/E.

No, this is whp or hub hp as the dynapack bolts on to the wheel hubs.

Does it measure the drivetrain loss?

No, so i do not have the flywheel hp, it only measures at the hubs. What is the typical loss on a ITR? 10%? 15%?

No idea, every dyno gives a different drivetrain loss percentage. I don't know why....

well, it takes into account the loss routing the power through the tranny, and axles finally spinning the hubs, so there is a significant amount of drivetrain loss taken into account.

Only difference is the amount of power needed to accelerate the wheels.

So power figures are Crank > hubs > wheels

as to exact percentage, every dyno varies

Well, in Europe you can see whp figures as low as 140 whp with a 60 hp drivetrain loss on some dynos.
And in the US (dynojet) you'll see figures like 170 whp with only 30 hp loss.
That's a big difference.

Anyways I'm pleased with the results, it's nice to not have to redline it to be in VTEC in the next gear.

Interesting. Since it bolts to the hubs, it lowers the amount of drivetrain loss considerably, as there will be no "weight of the wheel/tire mass" to rotate.

Try a vtec crossover of 3,500rpm, I know that it sounds unusually low, but trust me here.

The Sun dyno i dynoed on a while back ago measured a staggering 22,82% drivetrainloss

Doesn't sound realistic to me. But it depends how they define it....

Yes it depend the roller size and weight.

I have dyno my R on a Rotronics with very large rollers, mods where only the Mugen air box: 118WHP and 192 Flywheel HP !
Note that the dynamometer is one of most sofisticated in Europe.

On a Softengine Dyno with all my actual mods: 180whp and 209.4 flywheel HP !
On a John Beam Dyno with same mods: 190whp and 208 flywheel HP !

I will dyno it next month on a Bosh FLA203, we will see.

That may be interesting, to drive in VTEC constantly on a daily basis

Seriously though, we did try it at 4000 and it was even smoother than at 4500 but as this is my daily driver it's not such a good idea to go any lower than what we set it at.
