Default exhaust :(

well yesterday, i went and got the flex pipe that was where my cat was replaced with 2 1/4 piping, and left the 2 inch on the rest...i was really happy because i was tuning my cars low end....because i don't like always having to hit vtec to get power......well i thought that replacing the rest of the piping would result in more power...well 80 dollars later...i want to cry...my car is soo much slower, and louder at that.....i just wanna shove a potatoe in the tail pipe now..
B16A
ITR cams
SRI
2 1/4 is too big for B16 if you want to have some low end...and get this...vtec does not even have more pull...this is just my *** dyno...but i used to be able to dump the clutch at 3 grand in 3rd and spin my tires...now....bogg.....and when i would take off in first gear the car would just shoot off the line, but now...it is like driving my old d15 again...

i went from 2 i believe to 2 1/2 and i noticed a huge difference, but i went from custom exhaust to tanabe hyper medallion, it pulls harder everywhere and a lot better in vtec

Wtf....you're smokin....i went from stock Dx exhaust to full 2 1/4 pipe and man, what a huge difference in power. I hate to tell you, but the B16 will never produce low end. B16's and most Vtec motors are meant for revving. You put little P shooter pipe on the B16 and it will hinder flow, but i wouldnt go over 2 1/4 cause that can hurt power as well.

^^^ What he said, unless your going to go turbo then you can have 1/4 with no problems.

Had a stock STD exhaust on my B16. COULD NOT breathe past 7k rpm, and it could only muster a 15.1@92, averaging 15.2-15.3. Got 2.25 inch from the cat back with no resonator and a magnaflow muffler, and it went 14.6@95. Replaced the cat with a test pipe and put some better tires in the front, voila, 14.303@97.6 mph. It almost hit 98 mph numerous times, and it only has stock 00 si cams and an intake.

so the 2 1/4 is better for performance, is there much of a difference in sound?

well yeah......the problem was.....i have made a custom valve the controls the vacuum to the FPR...and i had turned the fuel pressure down to stock before i left work and went on errands.......cranked the pressure back up....it is now faster..but hella louder

oh yeah get some 97-98 JDM ITR cams, and see how your bottom end feels on the B16...i have had more than one person that drove my car complement the low end grunt mine has....i can peel out in second at 1500RPM....when vtec kicks in there is no sudden acceleration.....just a lot of noise..i need to dyno this thing....

and umm 2 inch a great size to optimize backpressure and get some torque to city driving....that could just have been the ITR cams talking...and well i do rock the gange a lot these days

it was an awesome upgrade, it got somewhat quieter, but the exhaust i first had was loud annoying, right now it sounds perfect, and there was a very noticable difference in power, even my friends could tell in the passenger seat.......
