Default Please Help Me with Brake Pad Install!!

I was replacing my brake pads with Hawk HPS pads. I got the old ones out, pushed the piston back in and put in the new ones. I couldn't for the life of me get the caliper and new pads to fit down over the rotor!! The outside pad and the frame of the caliper would not fit over the rotor. I definetly had the piston pushed all the way in; the inner pad was recessed inside the caliper. Anyone know what the hell I'm doing wrong? Your help is greatly appreciated.

I know you said that you have the piston all the way pushed in...but...I can't think of anything else it could be. There's really no other reason they wouldn't work unless you have the wrong pads and they're too thick or something. Good luck figuring it out.

This is stupid idea but maybe you didn't line up the thing you screw in the caliper bolt so that the flat part slides in. It's attached to the rubber and might have twisted on you. Two sides are semi-circular and the other two are flat.

Can't think of anything else,

I had the same problem getting my calipers back on when i changed rotors. Anyhow, I couldnt fit the calipers back because the rotors were a bit wider. Anyhow, I didnt even think about taking the calipers apart and then putting them back on that way. It gives you all the clearance you need that way. I had to take it to the shop and they did, but you could do it yourself too.

edit: Bad grammar

get a clamp and squeeze the the small dish like piece together. Then the caliper will slide in.

Thanks for all the suggestions, guys!! I took it to a shop and it turns out the caliper mount on the driver side (side I was working on) is bad. But, I watched the way the guy changed the passenger side. I'm not sure exactly what he did (bad view), but it looked a hell of a lot easier than the way I was doing it. I think he took off the caliper part, then put the pads in the mount and then pushed the caliper back over the pads; instead of sliding the assembled caliper over the rotor.

Anyways, gotta get a new caliper mount from the dealer, ***!! Thanks again!
