larger diameter wastegate on DRAG manifold
Is it possible to replace my deltagate with a 40mm Tial while retaining the originaly DRAG manifold? I was thinking just opening the hole in the manifold then tig welding the tial on because Ive heard that the bolt spread is farther apart. Any thoughts
in theory that should work. Down side is that the wastegate will be welded so basically you cannot remove it to inspect problems or change manifolds.. but you already knew that.
I think it will work though.

I'd say don't do it. You prolly already know the reliability of that manifold. I've had mine for about 2 years and have 2 small cracks. I'm scared just to put in the probe for an EGT much less weld onto it.

Well while I was on the phone today with Magestic turbo ordering my new 60-1 I asked them what i could do and heres what they suggested. Get a Turbonetics Racegate and a few flanges. Weld one flange on the spot where the Deltagate now sits. Then you can open up the 35mm hole to the 42mm hole for the Racegate. Then make a bent pipe and run that to another flange. It will now have the wastegate on its side blowing straight down. Just make a simple straight blow down and im set. I think it will work and it wont be expensive at all. I was quoted 338 for the Racegate with the flanges.
I have a 90 degree tube that goes from the two bolt deltagate flange to the 4 bolt (was used with an hks 40mm i believe) wastegate.
Im assuming that the radius of the tube is larger than the 35mm deltgate. Also what is the radius of the bend. I dont want to have any problems with hood clearance. What are you looking to get for it?
