tach reads much lower than this morning
on my way to classes cruise control at 75mph=around 3krpm
on my way home from classes cruise control at 75mph=less than 2500rpm
i really really dont get it. to play around and see what was going on with it i let it idle and it was pretty normal. i rev it up to 3k and it sounds like its at 4. this is a very weird experience for me and i have no idea what it means. could someone enlighten me? it was just totally different as soon as i started my car after a few hours. i tried searching to no avail.

If it bothers you so much, get an Autometer</TD></TR></TABLE>Not that much. They are generally inaccurate by abut 100 RPM or less. 1000 RPM off and Id say that something is not right. It could be the tach. Are you throwing any codes? Say code 8? or something distributor related?

no codes(yet) and its always been around 100 off but what happened today was just too weird for me to just ignore. the difference was too far off. its never been like this. i mean more than 500rpm at cruising speeds?
Im sure your dizzy is fine. But your tach in the car is propably just getting old and tired theres a spring in there like a clock spring and over time they get worn out and show wrong readings its just a fact of life. My old tach was off my about ohhhhhhhh 1500 rpm at one point. I got an autometer and that solved the proplem untill i got a new tach for the dash and its all good now im back to the standard 100 rpm off standard again.
wow...so it just happened one time when you started your car? and i can definitely take my car to class tomorrow right?
