notchy 1st, 2nd, 4th and 5th gears
I recently just installed a 2000 jdm itr tranny and now that its been about 3-4 months, its starting to feel lito notchy. When I installed the tranny i got a new clutch disc but not a new pressure plate because its about year old. Anywase, at a stop, going into first gear feels like it has a lito notchyness to it( but does not grind)...and sometimes it doesnt do this. But if the car is barely rolling, first gears goes in really smooth. Going into 2nd, you can really feel the notchyness and again does not grind. It seems like if you drive in 1st until the rpm reaches above 3k and you just barely ride the clutch pedal a little bit(split second), you can go into second smoothly...but sometimes this does not work. 3rd is perfect, and does not do this. But 4th also has a notchyness...its almost as worst as second. Again if i baby it in, it goes in smoothly sometimes. 5th also seems to have some notchyness to it and sometimes it doesnt, you can barely feel it. Reverse, sometimes goes right in but sometimes it doesnt go in(like somethings blocking it) and you have to let the clutch off and on, retrying untill it goes in...but there is no notchy feeling when it goes in.
I've also changed my tranny fluid about 2 weeks ago to GM synchomesh. This helped a little but now it seems like its comming back. Do you guys think its the synchro's in the tranny??....its suppose to have around only 9k miles on it or is my ACT Street Organic disk going out already?? BTW i have a ACT HD Presure plate.
edit: second gear kinda grinds a LITTLE if i dont baby it in. I also dont have a short shifter.
Thanks.

How about bleeding your clutch lines? I don't see how the synchros would cause notchiness and not grinding. If they aren't working properly, the gears might grind together but not much else could happen.
Besides, logic and odds say four synchros on a 2000 tranny probably aren't going to fail or begin to fail simultaneously. Check and triple check your clutch system. If your clutch isn't becoming completely disengaged, it's possible that the shaft is still slightly holding on to the engine and it's making synchros work harder to match the shaft speeds together. Notchy feel, maybe. If worse comes to worse, pull the tranny and try a different clutch.
Odds are that's happening, and odds are there's air in your clutch line that's compressing and not disengaging the disc entirely. Bleed, rinse, and repeat.

I've bleed the clutch lines....and didnt feel much of a difference. I wondering if a bad clutch master cylinder or slave cylinder can still go bad if im not loosing any fluid from the resovoir?

Look under your dash. You can see the clutch master cylinder coming from the firewall and attatching to your clutch pedal. If your cmc is leaking then you will see fluid below your cmc under the dash. You can have a small leak and not even know it by looking at the reservoir.
