Default HELP!!! Power Surging problem??!?!??!?!

i dunno if anyone has experienced this before, but here goes:

when i hit my brakes or flip on my brights, all the lights in my car and my headlights get dim for a second.

i have an old battery, but there is no sign of it getting weak or anything, the lights aren't dim, and it turns the car on just fine. the lack of power also turns all of my accessories off and back on again (radar detector, etc, and yes, i have them all wired right, have had 0 problems with them before this).

if anyone has had this problem before and knows the remedy, please let a bro know, cuz this sucks!!!

Alternator, battery, bad grounds, huge vacuum leaks causing odd ECU readings, etc.

its not a bad ground, or vacuum leak. i think it might be the alternator or the battery.

i dont really think its the alternator though, cuz my system would be dimming my lights all the time if i had a bad alternator, and the lights never dim from music, just from me hitting my brakes....

check your alternator! take the car to autozone, napa or advance auto to get your alternator check. they can test it in the car.

Do a load test on your battery to see if it supplying sufficent power when your car uses alot of AMPS for the lights.

I use a VAT 40 and some places can check the battery for you,

Now you said your alternator puts out 14 volts now turn on all the lights and see if it still does, and check for AC output on the alternator and on the battery.
