Bad Alternator
I've searched and came to the conclusion I have a bad alternator. Yesterday I was cruising at like 72 and went to pass a car and just started slowing down and got passed by 4 cars in the right lane.......My car made it home but had no power. I'd drop into 2nd and RPMS would stay still at 5k. I just went outside to go to school and my car doesn't start. Other things like my headlights dimming and coming back at night while I accelerate and deccelrate have also happened.
It's got to be the alternator everything has run fine for the last 3 months since my swap. I have a OBD2 JDM GSR in my 2000 Hatchie.
Do I just go buy a new GSR alternator. And is it hard to replace going from the top of the engine bay?.....

i took the alternator out through the top which was a task. I went to advanced auto parts and they said they didn't have a connection to test it. Is this due to being a JDM engine. They entered the part # off the alternator and said they wouldn't even be able to order that alternator?......can I use a USDM GSR alternator?.....hopefully this is the problem I hope someone can test it.

That store that you went to had stupid workers. Go to a autozone, theyll be able to test it. and yes a USDM alt. should be able to work.

Bad wires, but you can test the alt as is take it apart and check the busings and do a OHM check on the field winding for a short, then check the diodes.
