'03 Accord V6 doors lock out driver
Wife drives a ’03 Accord V6. She is annoyed about some of the “features.” I could not find any information in the Manual that could help her.
1. Doors lock after she leaves the car, without her activating the remote control;
2. The interior lights don’t stay on when she opens the driver door for a prolonged period of time;
3. The horn sounds when she clicks the second time on the remote and the alarm is activated – she wished that it made a quieter sound or no sound at all;
4. She has found no way to turn off the Navigator – she is concerned that once the Nav is on, there is no way of turning it off – she finds herself in some areas of the city where she does not want to attract attention with the Nav. Stopping an restarting the car (an not clicking on the OK) is sometimes NOT an option.
I can’t help her. The Prelude my son drives (inherited from me) is not that fancy, and the ’04 TL that I drive allows programming for everything.
Please help.
TIA

1. i have seen that in higher end acura's and hondas since the late 90s, in fact our 99 prelude locks teh doors itself if you leave it sit with the doors closed and no key in the igniton.
2. seems ot me that the lights turning off are there to protect agaisnt a dead battery....
perhaps she should consider using the auxiliary lighting that is in teh car and TURN it on so she can hae it on, or turn the car on as well.
3. i suspect she has no choice on that, tell her NOT to push the alarm buttons to arm it once it IS armed...
4. not a clue since navigation is not soemthign i ahve ever had to use.
sounds liek a trip down to teh dealer you bougth the car from is in order if you have that many things you dont like.

go to honda...there are supposedly Two Modes for the 03 alarm. idragen had the same problem and fixed it at the dealer. it requires a series of actions like closing the door, hitting the brake, turning on headlights...well you get the point
For number three the quicker you hit and release the remote button the second time the shorter the priod of the horn honk. If she does it quickly the horn will let off a quicker quiter beep. Or she could just hit it once which still locks the doors the second time beep is a courtesy feature to verify the doors where locked.
Regarding the horn, this is a design feature to let you know that you really did lock the car, just in case you didn't see the headlights the first time you hit lock. If she feels the need to press lock multiple times, but does not want the horn to confirm the second time, tell her to wait 5 seconds between pressing lock.
To turn off the navi screen, simply press Setup, then Off.
Via voice controls, it's "Setup" then "Display Off".
