Well after a very quick search, I saw that a 96 accord was having a very similar leak as mine. Most of the people said it was a cam shaft seal leak (few said it was a valve gasket leak -- im positive that mine isn't leaking, as i just sealed it a couple weeks ago.)

Anyhow, Im leaking ~4 quarts of oil every 3 weeks. Just looking for a yay or nay if it is a cam shaft seal leak, and how to fix this problem.

hmm.. works fine for me.

 

it looks like it might be the oil pan gasket leaking,also if it was a cam seal leaking it would be on the other side as far as fixing it just replace the oil pan gasket and you're set good luck

 

sweet deal. 12 quarts of oil later hehe. Anyone else want to confirm/deny that it is the oilpan gasket before i start again?

well, when you figure in it leaked 3-4 quarts, i just gave it an oil change, and am going to have to give it another oil change when i take off the pan

 

in the second pic you can see where the oil is dripping from. From reading/searching, atleast on a F20C, people were suggesting that it was the camshaft seal that was leaking. *shrug*

the 2nd pic is underneath the crank pulley,
the camshaft seal is on the top of the engine,

there is a seal behind the crank that can also leak oil, and it is much close to that pic,

however both are underneath the timing belt cover, so if either was leaking it would pool at the bottom and drip out where you took that picture.

i would suggest taking off your valve cover, examine the valve cover gasket,
take off the top belt/camgear cover, and look at where the cam gear attaches to the cam, that is where the cam seal is. see if its leaking there.

 

thanks man. im just going to plan on replacing the camshaft seal and the oilpan seal... preventive maintenance and hopefully i will stop the leak!

 

I would say that your crank seal is leaking. Possible cam seal(s) leaking but you didn't take a pic of the top of the engine. Oil pan gasket is another possiblity, but it looks like a crank seal. When you take it apart check and make sure the timing belt isn't oil soaked. If it is replace that as well.

 

Carbon, IMO you gots a cam seal leak. Make sure the replacement isn't ripped from the factory.

thanks... hmm maybe i should do a mini-me if im going to be replacing all of this **** already

 

how does anyone get camshaft seal leak out of that pic?

the pic is of the crankshaft. different part of the engine boys.

 

seems to be a lot of diffrent ideas.
1.before you replace the oil pan gasket go round all the bolts and see if they tighten up as they are prone to come loose so you may find that you can get about 1/2 a turn out of them.

2. remove top timming cover and look for signs of a leak from the rocker cover and get a tourch to have a look down the back of the rear timming cover which is behind the timming belt. as the tappets need checking every 24000 miles the gasket starts leaking(this is common)

3. if there is no sign of a leak at the top and the oil pan gasket is not leaking then you will need to take of the bottom timming cover and have a look at the crankshaft oil seal.

if it was me i would do it in that order as i see so meny people going for the hard stuff first and 9 times out of 10 it is the simple one.
