i think there are only 2 kits, the one similar to your picture, and the other is the one which comes with a pocket below the radio based on it being single DIN.

toss the radio and get a double din hu.
or go to a junk yard and find a honda that has an am/fm tape player cause those would have the pocket just below the hu

I'm sure I could have installed it the otherway around, if I wanted the open tray on the bottom.

Is there anything that keeps the radio from being ripped out easy?
Is it bolted from the back ?

nope, it just slips into place and clips there....anyone with that special little two pronged tool (or even a slightly modified coat hanger for that matter) could have it out in under a minute. you just gotta remember to take the faceplate off when you leave the car and hope for the best pretty much

this is going to sound crazy, but it was my idea once to try this, to keep a stock look... get a AMP, one that can power all 4 of your speakers, then plug an iPod right into the sub. The iPod has Equilizers and such in it, so it should work and sound just fine. And you still have your stock tapedeck, though it won't be working.

I decided it would be too much of a pain, and just bought a cheap Aiwa with a front input for my iPod

edit: used the wrong word, as pointed out below

Man you don't use those two pronged tools on honda's. I know you use those of Fords and I don't know what other radios but you remove the whole center console to get the radio out the accords radio doesnt have the two holes to stick the two prongs in. Atleast none I have seen unless the new ones do but I doubt it.

this would require a lot more work than just replacing the deck.

1st off, you wouldn't need a sub. you would need an AMP... a 4-channel one, more specifically. then you would a cable that starts with a headphones jack and goes to RCAs, around 12-15 feet of power wire (8 gauge will do), 2-4 feet of ground wire (also 8-gauge), inline fuse holder and fuse, battery-terminal connectors, misc. connectors for ground, length of 12 or 16 gauge wire to use as remote wire (so the amp knows when to turn on and off), which would have to be wired to a switch.... oh, and speaker wire. OR, you could just pay a shop to install the amp for you for like 40 bucks or so.

you COULD do it and still have the use of the stock deck. but in my opinion, doing all this is not worth it. i'd still rather just buy a new cd player and be done with it.
