Car keeps dying thought it was Main Relay.....

Car keeps dying thought it was Main Relay.....
2 days ago my friend called me from the side of the freeway...
His car died on the way home and wouldnt start back up....
The car would turn over but not start, so anyways the weather was hot I figured it was the Main relay, after being parked in a cool spot, it started and he drove home, that night we changed the main relay.
He went to pick up nephew left the car running, went inside and came out and the car was off and wont start again.
Its a 1991 Civic Sedan DX.....any ideas would be appreciated!!!

Could be simple things -
any CEL light and ECU codes?
If so - post them!
Maybe take the distributor cap off and make sure the rotor is on there tight.
If it's loose things SUCK.
Check timing belt timing.
Make sure the main relay is working.
check fuel, spark, and air.
Do a compression test.
Check spark plugs.
Lots of ways to check your car... kind of a vague problem you have.

There was corrosion on the Dist cap....scraped off and started up, idles rough still...
