One question, would it make more sense to save for the prelude or use the money i have for an h22 swap into my accord? I have an auto and want a 5 spd, but a man I spoke to here in memphis (sells honda engines) says to not do a swap. He said that once you swap an engine, many problems are likely to occur down the road. Is there any validity to his statement? Would I be better off getting a Prelude or swapping- if it helps, this is a daily driver, not a drag car. Thanks everyone

 

daily driver needs no more than stock utility... if u want performantce, buy urself a sports car, if u want a family sedan, buy urself a family sedan... but u gotta love beating a sports car in ur "family sedan" turbo dat ****

 

i want reliable performance. i need a 5 spd for that, but before i mod anything i want the right engine to so and the tranny should be ready for that before any mods. my engine in the 96 accord has 112,000. i'm considering that it would be a good idea to let the engine get older to get as much economical life as i can from it, to save money. but i am unsure if that's the best route to get performance, an engine swap. basically, i have an accord but want performance from a honda like a prelude.

 

If you want performance now but want to suck the life out of your F22 just throw in some low boost amounts. Maybe 6 or 7 psi. When the engine, or more likely tranny goes out then do the H22 swap and transfer the turbo over. You get all the life out of your F22 and still get to transfer a lot of parts over. Less wasted money.

6 - 7 psi on an auto is ok , just depends on the condition of the tranny and how much u get on it, as far as boosting then switching over thats alot of money, i would look into finding a 5 spd do the conversion then just do boost. The stock f22 that come in accords have iron sleeves so they can take up to 14 psi (but u would still have to switch pistons,rings, and rods)

 

Forgot about the auto tranny thing. It should still be okay as long as you get a tranny cooler.

 

as far as swapping an h22 into your 96 accord, if TN is anything like most states, you will need a 96 or newer h22 for it to be legit, secondly, it would be far cheaper for you to sell your car and buy one for about the same price/lower price for a manual, third, i'd rather have an accord than a lude, accords are maybe a little heavier but that can be fixed without sacrificing comfort, my 93 accord, is at 2640lbs with just two front seats, no backseat or carpeting or tar or anything and sound isn't bad at all, i like the metal better than carpet too...but thats me, plus with an accord your insurance rates will be cheaper

after 11 months of having an h22 93 accord i'm liking it more and more every day and not regretting getting a lude or anything else, especially when it weighs as much as an integra...

 

buy a prelude if thats what u want ...it will be faster than ur swap, less painful, and then u wont hav to miss wit well do i gotta get thsi from a lude or a accord..its a pain in the *** but if u love the accord then go for it but if not ..shop around

 

would it be a good idea to just get a five speed swapped? my F22 is nice, in really good shape and yes I found out the difference in insurance in a Prelude and an Accord. I think I'll keep my Accord.

Is it a bad idea to get a manual swap? Its cheaper right? Probably can get one for $2000 installed. My auto tranny is a month old, it died and i was strapped for cash so my mom helped my put a new auto in but she wasn't going to help out with a 5 spd. I really like my Accord, its my first car and I'd hate to part with it but if it's easier than getting a manual swap then that's what I'd do.

i have an h22a accord....and a 5th gen lude. the accord is a little bit faster (its a 4th gen and has mroe mods), but hte lude is more comfortable and sportier feeling overall. if you really want he lude, keep the accord in good shape and wait til you cn afford the lude, and use the accord as down or sell it.

if you jstu want more power and love your accord mod it and swap it....

 

Save for a lude! I see 2 millions accord every day. Back at home, there were 5 preludes in town that I would see around. Dare I say they are "rare"?
