Default car starts bogging at high rpms??

the car started doing this after one of my msd plug wires popped off from the distributor while is was driving on the hwy. Before that, vtec pulled pretty good, but after that vtec only feels like the lower rpms. I can still hear the vtec switchover but just don't feel the pull anymore, any ideas if the plug wires are bad? The car still drives and idles fine, its just lagging at vtec.

you may have weaked the distributor coil. i had the same problem years ago with a set of MSD wires where one of the wires popped out. i never thought it was a problem but my motor always breaks up in 4th gear in vtec. i would say it hesitates alittle as well. we could have the same problem.

go to this link to see how to check your coil with an OHM meter and check for the primary and secondary winding resistance specs:

however, i do believe that you could have a weak coil and have the test read out OK. my primary read out was alittle on the higher than spec.

other than that, all i could say is try another distributor. you could change your coil, but might be wasting $90. i wanna know what both of us could have damaged with a plug wire popping out???
