Default hard to shift into 1st

well lately for some reason ive been having trouble shifting into first from a stop.it would feel like it goes halfway into first but not all the way where its engaged..i would then have to go back into neutral and clutch it and then go back into 1st for it to work..that or go into another gear and then go into first...i know it normal if it wont go into 1st once in a while but this happens at least 5 times a day..whats my problem?

Are you making sure your pressing the clutch all the way down? Also try checking your clutch fluid.

thats how all honda and acuras are. 1st and reverse. when that happens, put it back into neutral, let go of the clutch then press down on the clutch again and then pop it back into 1st or reverse. if that dont work, go into 2nd then go back into 1st. for reverse, go into 1st then go back into reverse. those tips usually does the trick for me...

Make sure you come to a complete stop. I have the same problem if i am rolling oh so slightly. Try to blip the gas while putting it in first also.

^^^this works almost every time

or sometimes while pushing it into first---if it gets stuck part way, let up on the clutch a little bit and it should go in

I know that it is hard going into reverse in hondas as a saftey precaution to prevent going directly from 5th to reverse, which would suck. I find 1st hard to go into occasionally unless im at a complete stop, not just a roll through. Which makes sense then because you would almost be in second if you didnt stop all the way.

yea, once in a while it won't go into 1st or Reverse for me. I usually just put it back to neutral and let off the clutch and try again, always works for me!

I have all the listed problems above as well. I think my transmission needs a overhaul.
