Default Where is your temp gauge sitting?

The temp gauge on my ITR usually sits one point to the left from the middle when fully warmed, even on a track.

But yesterday, I had to start the engine and run on a highway 160kmh (100mph) for about 10km (7miles) and the pointer sit two points to the left from the center. It was relatively cold (10C=50F) and the gauge came to the right "one point form the middle" position after I stopped for a minute, then fluctuated from two to one points from the middle when driving.

Should I be worried about my thermostat? What is your temp readings?

The change in temp was probably caused by the outside temperature which explains the fact that when you stopped and went back up. The air was probably rushing through your engine and cooling it slightly.

I wouldnt worry about it.

My temp gauge usually sits slightly to the left of the center during normal driving.

It should be stable when driving.

it should not fluctuate THAT much, if any once its warmed up. might be a sign of your radiator or thermostat going bad. Check your hoses as well for any swelling. check your coolant levels as well and make sure its not low and/or dirty.

Once up to normal OT, my needle sits on the first notch to the left of center. I don't think I've ever seen it move past the 1/2 marker.

Mine used to sit there...then had some work done on it at King...

Around town/city...sits in the same spot. When cruising on the highway, it's between 25% and 35%...super cooling.

that is exactly where mine sits.....has never moved passed halfway even at the track. i heard that, even though the temp gauge is sationary, the temp. could fluctuate up to 40 degrees F. is this true?

Stupid OEM gauge lies to you to make people happy.

I totally wouldn't worry about it running a little cool! 'Could' be a thermostat but usually they run hot (in my experience).

I have gone past center while racing. Last HPDE with a Turbo, that is

if you weren't low on coolant, check for exhaust leaks around engine bay.. wastegate in particular

Umm, my wastegate dump tube fell off, does that count? Plenty of oil and radiator fluid. I turned on my heater and it went back down to halfway.
It was about 85 degrees outside.

that could be it, wastegate would be open at many times during racetrack.
