Default Disappearing oil

I have a problem, I just for some random reason checked my dipstick and noticed barely a drop on it. This is a big prob since I found no signs of leakage on my engine. I was thinking that maybe it could be bad piston rings and that the oil was being burned, but at the same time I never see black smoke comming from my exhaust. I just changed the oil last month to Mobil 1 synthetic. If anyone has any clue or idea to what might be happening please help.

My healthy b16a burned a quart of Mobil1 5W-30 every 1200 miles IIRC. I switched to Valvoline synthetic and it burns it at a much slower rate.

Regular dino oil didn't burn at all.

I've read in a million places that B-series motors like to drink Mobil 1.

not trying to be a dick or anything... but maybe u didnt put enough oil in at the oil change since this is the FIRST time you noticed. Do you smell burning oil???

I wuold put more oil into it, up to the full line, and keep a good eye on it and take notice to how hard you push the engine/how many miles/ and color of oil.

If continues... i cant think of what it is. Probably wont though (hopefully)

mobil 1 is not overrated you are just using it in an application it wasnt intended for. B/D series engines werent designed for full synthetic oil. M1 dosent have seal expanders like most dino oils do and on top of the the molecular makeup of synthetic is "smaller" so it has a tendancy to find leaks.

stick to a synthetic blend if you dont want leaks, still get great protection and not nearly as many leaks.

0w40 Mobil1 is so light that it'll get burned alive in even a healthy high-revver like an s2k.
