Icon3 burning oil?

I have a 1999 Si. all stock. 80k miles. I just did an oil change when i first bought the car which was less than 3 weeks ago. when i got the car the oil level was fine. and he said it needed to be changed immediatly. This car was apparently not beat on before. I've been driving it and the car does get revved out and is in vtec a decent amount. i know more oil is burned when the car is in vtec, but, just from driving it around for a couple weeks is it possible even thouhg im driving it kind of hard for it to be burning so much oil that i had to add almost 2 1/2 quarts to it less than a 1000 miles later? the other thing is that also there is no blue, or black smoke blowing from my exhaust. But then theres is a thick black dust all over my bumper near my exhaust so thats why i think it's burnign oil. so im not sure what the problem is.. any ideas? thanks.

have you checked your coolant? are there any oil drips on the bottom of the engine? what kind of oil are you using?

i think the black dust all over your bumper is carbon.

im using mobile 1 fully synthetic 10w-30, i have not checked my coolants any specific ones?, so what does that mean if it is carbon? i have not noticed any leaks in my driveway, looked like there was some oil dripping underneath the distrubutor where its connected to the motor. below the distrubutor though and yes i'ev added about 2 1/2 quarts more to the car. sorry for all the questions i dont have a huge backround on cars or hondas, im just getting into it.

if there is black stuff in ur coolant you may have a blown head gasket.

if it is a blown head gasket i have a friend who can replace the gasket for me im pretty sure, but how much is this going to cost me if i don't have to pay for labor? also is it awful for the car to just keep driving it around and just keep the oil level where its supposed to be.

it doenst mean it is a head gasket, but if u dont have to pay for labor then all you need is a new headgasket...
